Support & grow our volunteers in Beverley & Hornsea Scouts. As Volunteering Development Team Leader, you’ll welcome new volunteers, support their learning and recognise contributions, helping create a positive environment where volunteers can thrive.

Step into a role where your encouragement and people skills help volunteers thrive.

As the Volunteering Development Team Leader, you’ll help create a welcoming, supportive environment for volunteers across Beverley & Hornsea Scouts. By supporting recruitment, learning and recognition, you’ll play an important role in helping volunteers feel confident, valued and able to give their best to young people.

Working alongside the Volunteering Development Team, you’ll help make volunteering easier, more enjoyable and more rewarding for everyone involved.

What you might be involved in

As part of the team, you may:

  • Use our ready-made resources to attract and welcome new volunteers
  • Help guide volunteers through their learning and development journey
  • Be a friendly and approachable contact for new and existing volunteers
  • Support a culture of recognition and appreciation for volunteers’ contributions
  • Help organise opportunities such as adult awards or volunteer recognition events
  • Meet with new volunteers to welcome them and help them settle into their roles
  • Support volunteers to access learning, sometimes helping them complete learning online

Time commitment

This role involves regular engagement with volunteers across the district. Typically, you might:

  • Attend Volunteering Development Team meetings several times a year
  • Spend time meeting or supporting volunteers individually
  • Help coordinate recruitment, onboarding and recognition activities
  • Occasionally attend events or meetings connected to volunteering and development

On average, volunteers in this role give a few hours most weeks, although the time can flex depending on your availability and the needs of the team.

Support you’ll receive

You won’t be doing this alone. You’ll receive:

  • Support from the Beverley & Hornsea leadership team
  • A friendly team of volunteers to collaborate with
  • Access to training and learning through Scouts
  • Resources and guidance designed to make volunteering easier

Why volunteer in this role?

Great volunteering experiences create great Scouting for young people. By supporting and encouraging other volunteers, you’ll help build a strong, welcoming community where people feel confident, appreciated and inspired to give their time.

If you’re approachable, encouraging and enjoy helping people succeed, the Volunteering Development Team would love to welcome you.
