Is your building winter ready? A few things to check before finishing up for Christmas to make sure your building is safe and secure over the break.
From the 1st of January, 2025, all Nights Away Notifications for Beverley and Hornsea District MUST be through the new membership system. See details in our Local Support section for help and useful information if you need it.
A reminder that NAN forms MUST be submitted a minimum of 7 days in advance. All notifications with less notice will be declined.
Do you feel someone has gone above and beyond in Scouting? Have you considered nominating them for a Good Service Award? It’s now even easier to do this. Check out the awards section of the new membership system to nominate someone you think deserves this amazing recognition.
For awards to be presented at St George’s Day, they need to be submitted and approved before the 31st of December. Don’t worry if it’s after, they’ll be presented at a later date. The awards criteria can be found here.
If someone doesn’t quite meet the above criteria but you still feel they deserve recognition, speak to our District Lead Volunteer or District Youth Leads who can award Commendation Awards.
If you’re new to Scouting, you may need to have a Welcome Conversation and submit references. Don’t worry! This is easy to do and your Team Leader or Group Lead Volunteer can help you with this. You can submit your own references by logging into the membership system. Follow this link to find out how.
Take a look at our new learning and development scheme. Whether you’re a brand new volunteer or have years of experience, there’s new opportunities to learn new skills and develop existing ones. Follow this link to find out more.
Have you logged in to the new membership system yet? If not, we’d strongly encourage all volunteers to spend 10 minutes having a look at the new system and getting used to it. Follow this link to log in. Don’t know your log in details? Don’t panic! If you know the email address you had linked to Compass or can find a recent HQ email, that’s the email you need. Click “Forgot Password” to get started. Don’t know which email you’ve used? Email your full name and group to support@bandhscouts.org.uk and we’ll help you get started.
At the time of writing this, there are 165 volunteers within Beverley and Hornsea District who still need to sign in.
If you have any problems or is something doesn’t seem quite right on the new membership system, here’s some things you can do to help get things sorted.
Humberside Scouts are holding a Drop-In session on the 4th of January, 2025 at Raywell to support with the launch of the new membership system. Book your slot here.
We’re sad to say goodbye to 1st Walkington Scout Group. Over a challenging few years, the group has gradually shrunk due to limited young people numbers and volunteer availability. The last section, Cubs, will close it’s doors for the last time on the 18th of December, 2024. We’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Holly, Ethan, Joann, Belinda, and all the other adults, volunteers and supporters who have kept Walkington going over the past few years. We’re pleased to say that all the young people and volunteers are continuing their Scouting journey thanks to neighbouring Scout Groups.
Whilst we hope this is only goodbye for now, we’re thankful for all the wonderful memories the group has brought to countless young people over the years.
